Team ELEVATE Adds a New Member: Meeting Samantha Au

My name is Samantha Au and I am a new member of team Elevate! I'm on the provincial karate team, just finished my first year at Memorial University (MUN), and work a couple of small jobs. I can now add modelling and writing for Elevate to that list. In other words, I guess you could say that I’m a pretty busy person. But I don’t mind this at all simply because I enjoy most aspects of my life. Including staying busy. Enjoying what I do is how I get through most days because sometimes, things can get a little crazy.

I have never blogged before so this might be interesting (lol). But I’m really excited to try something new and hopefully get some feedback from everyone. Usually when I write about anything, I keep it to myself just as a little note or something. But recently I’ve been trying to be open to new experiences.

So a little back story to put some perspective on why I decided to start modelling and writing for Elevate:

About 3 years ago, I went through a really awkward phase of trying to figure out what I want from life. I found that trying to find a purpose in life is what life consists of. I realized that always looking for something new to achieve or overcome is what allows us to grow into a better version of ourselves. The best way to do that is to start with You. Create your own ideas and push yourself because if you’re waiting on someone else to tell you what to do, you’re going to find yourself struggling to be that greater person. Relying on yourself though, can get lonely sometimes and getting an extra push from others can help to give you a boost when you really need it. After discovering these things, I took initiative to start spreading positivity in any way that I could. Simple compliments or even just a smile here or there can really improve someone’s day. It makes me feel better knowing that I might be able to give someone that extra push for the day.

Fast forward to just a few months ago now, when a good friend and teammate of mine introduced me to Elevate. At first it was just the logo that stood out to me, it showed passion for a sport, a country and the will to rise. Elevate. The word itself means to rise to a higher level, to become something greater. This company literally stands for being a better version of yourself. I needed to support them. Like the mainstream millennial that I am I went to Instagram to see their inspiring quotes and the local rising athletes that they support. Everything they posted was so positive and inspiring, it made me feel included without even talking to anyone. When I first bought my sweater they were nothing but nice to me, we had a conversation about everything they were trying to do with the company and how they were trying to include people with all different strengths. The feel good, do good vibe they give off really made me want to be a part of what they do.

Elevate is more than just a brand, it’s more than just a company, it’s a family. They are so personable and real. I admire their acceptance that nothing can be perfect on the first try and that everything will be something you can learn off of. I’m excited to be working with such a great group of people to portray such a strong message.
