The CEO's Journal- Entry 22: Making the Most of 2020

2020 has been crazy year so far to say the least. I hope everyone’s been staying safe amid all the chaos. Due to the current Covid-19 situation, most of our usual activities here at Elevate have been put on hold. As you can imagine, this has led to a pretty big shift in what I do on a daily basis.

Self-isolation can be tough. Despite being an introvert who usually spends most of his time alone anyways, it can still get extremely lonely at times. I can only imagine what this must be like for all you social butterflies out there. But it’s not all bad. I’ve been using a lot of this time to focus on many of the things that I don’t usually get a chance to:

1. Learning new things. There’s been a lot of non-Elevate related things that I’ve wanted to learn and try that I now have the chance to. It’s been exciting learning about stock trading, practicing yoga (As of now I’m exceptionally terrible at it) and exploring other possible business ventures.

2. Improving eating habits. Now that I have the time, I’ve been making an effort to eat something other than cereal for breakfast, lunch and dinner (Oops). So far, it’s been going really well and I’ve actually impressed myself with some of the meals I’ve been able to put together (not to brag but my salmon is incredible).

3. Self-Reflection. This is for sure the most important thing that I’ve been focusing on. I’ve been able to achieve some things that I’m very proud of, but I also realize that I do have some flaws that I’ve neglected to address. And it can be a very tough thing to do, to admit to yourself that you aren’t perfect and then begin working on improving those areas. But that’s how we truly grow as individuals. Sometimes personal development is fun and easy, like reading an insightful book or watching an interview from someone you admire. However, the real growth happens when we analyze, question and critique our own actions, thought processes and habits. And that isn’t at all an easy thing to do. But it is worth it.

On behalf of our entire Elevate staff, please stay safe during these scary times. Although I’m sure that we all wish that we didn’t have to self-isolate, I strongly encourage you to do so for yourself as well as for those around you. Try your best to see the opportunity in this chaos and take some time to continue working on becoming a better You. The time is going to pass regardless of what you choose to do. But I’m sure that future You would be thankful if you used some of this free time to become even greater.

Stay safe everyone and be on the lookout for some fun content we’re currently putting together for our Instagram page! (@Elevate_Canada)!

Thank you for reading!
