The CEO's Journal - Entry 2: I'm Impatient And It's Okay

The truth about running a business: It’s HARD.

But oddly enough, the fact that it’s extremely difficult is one of the things that I love so much about it. I love the challenge. I love the fact that Elevate’s success directly depends on how hard I work and on my ability to learn and grow as a person. It pushes me to become a better version of myself day in and day out.

I won’t bore you with the details, but every single day I sit at my desk and literally spend hours at a time working on building the brand. And as I mentioned in last week’s entry, I am someone who has a very hard time being patient. Because I work at it at such an extreme rate, I can’t help but expect to see immediate positive results of my efforts. I also mentioned in last week’s post that obstacles and setbacks can almost feel like the end of the world. But it is going through times like that which make the victories and accomplishments that much sweeter.

I’ll admit that I felt like that multiple times this month. There were many days where I was just completely dissatisfied with the growth of the business. But what’s crazy about this is that after reviewing the numbers, I’ve recently (today) learned that May was Elevate’s best month to date.

When it comes to Elevate, I am impatient. But I am learning that perhaps my impatience is more of a blessing than it is a curse. Sure, being impatient sometimes causes me stress. But me being impatient has also undoubtedly contributed to Elevate’s success. My impatience is what drives me to constantly search for ways to achieve as much as I can, as quickly as I can. My impatience drives me to demand the best of myself each and every day. Because of my impatience, I was able to look at those record-breaking numbers, briefly pat myself on the back, and then immediately return to the same question I ask myself every day; “What’s the next step?”

As I’ve said before, writing this journal helps me to take a step back and look at the big picture. I realize that it's important to celebrate the victories along the way so I’m going to outline a few of my favourite recent “wins”:

  1. Elevate’s record breaking month.

  2. There is a LOT of excitement over a few of our newest products.

  3. We’ve begun working on a video project that will take a while to finish filming but will be WELL worth it.

  4. Team Elevate has grown. Welcome to the team Carlie Ball, Samantha Au, Shaelyn Elliott, Sam Gerbig, Katie Bennett & Jane Bennett. I can’t wait to share your talents and knowledge with our incredible supporters.

There. Now that I’ve taken the time to outline a few of the victories, it’s time for me to get back to work (It’s 3:50am lol). Thank you everyone for your incredible support. I am going to continue working day in and day out to bring you the best content and products that I possibly can.

Thank you
